REVIVE US AGAIN!

What a wonderful and uplifting Revival Week we have had! I can not believe it's over. I am physically exhausted, but my spirit is renewed. It has worked out well this year as this week was Easter Break for my boys so we got to attend all of the nights.
I try to find one sermon over all that spoke to me the most, but I really can't. I have been challenged to really take a good check of my life and remove any extra weights that might be hindering my walk with my Jesus.
I also now see the different events that took place that first Easter morning in a different way. For instance, when He move that huge, extremely heavy stone away from the front of the tomb, He showed us that NOTHING is impossible for God to move in our lives. NOTHING is too difficult for Him! Hallelujah! Bring your burdens and troubles to Him. Have faith that, if it's His will, He will move whatever stone is in your life.
The preacher also brought out Thomas. The one we all know as "Doubting Thomas", because he would not believe that Jesus was risen until he actually saw Jesus, saw and felt the nail prints in His hand, and thrust his hand into His side.
Thomas missed out on a wonderful blessing because he was not gathered with the other disciples when Jesus came to them where they were "when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews" (John 20:19). Jesus breathed on the disciples and gave them the Holy Ghost.
Our visiting preacher likened this to the Christian who stays out of church. You know, often times, you miss wonderful blessings when you lay out of church. Christian, we ought to go to church! Now, there are times when we can't attend due to extreme illness, but often people stay out simply because they put their wants and desires before God. Put God first! Be in church when you should be.
Oh, yes! It has definitely been a spiritually reviving week for me!
Have a wonderful and blessed day!

RESURRECTION SUNDAY

What a glorious Resurrection Sunday. Hallelujah! I am so thankful for what Jesus did for us when He didn't have to!
Imagine what you would have felt if you were going to the tomb, as Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome were, and found the stone rolled away. You see an angel sitting where your Jesus should have been, telling you, "Be not afrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazereth, which was crucified; He is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid Him." Mark 16:6. What would you have done?
Oh, Praise the Lord for His wonderful Salvation! If you do not know the Lord as your personal Saviour, why not give your heart to Him today, on Resurrection Sunday? You can start anew.
Have a blessed Sunday!

GOD'S PROTECTION

Wow! You know, the other night, the husband of a friend of mine had a VERY close brush with death. He was driving down the road, when the next thing he knew, a pick up truck from the opposite lane crossed the yellow line and was coming for a head on collision course with him. Her husband swerved to avoid the other vehicle and was hit on the backside of his truck.
They found out later that the other man was suicidal. My friend's husband was more concerned for that man's physical and spiritual needs than for himself.
How many spiritual lessons can we get from this? I see two right off.
The first one is that God is always watching over us. Psalm 91:3-7 talks about God's protection. The verse that sticks out to me is verse 5, "Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;". That other pickup truck, to me, represents the "arrow that flieth by day;".
Sometimes the devil attacks us, trying to stop whatever work we are doing for the Lord. But, remember, as we see in the book of Job, Satan can not touch a true born-again believer without God's permission.
The second lesson that I see (and is often the hardest for us), is the other person, the one who tried to attack us. The Scripture says, "See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men," 1 Thessalonians 5:15. Or, "The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and [it is] his glory to pass over a transgression." Proverbs 19:11. Jesus, as he was dying on the cross after being so cruelly treated, said, "Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots." Luke 23:24.
You know, the man with the suicidal intentions did not know my friend's husband from anyone else. Her husband's truck just happened to be the one coming at the moment that the man decided to go through with his intentions. Perhaps the Lord put this man in her husband's path because He knew that he would pray, and get others to pray, for this man. We may never know the reasons.
Have a wonderful and blessed day. Don't forget to thank the Lord for all He has done for you!

LET US GO INTO THE HOUSE OF THE LORD

"I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord." Psalm 122:1
I am always glad to go to church!

THE PEACE OF GOD THAT PASSETH ALL UNDERSTANDING

Good morning! Today I have a special co-worker on my heart, for which I am asking special prayer for.
She found out not too long ago that she has inoperable tumors, one on the top of each lung. As she was preparing to start treatment for those, they found yet another place that needs to be treated. It just seems like everytime she turns around, she is receiving bad news.
We have prayed for her healing, IF it's the Lord's will. We always want the Lord's will, not ours. He has His reasons. He does not always choose to heal.
Praise the Lord, she is a born again Christian. She knows where she is going when she dies. But, you know what? She is also human, and discouragement is setting in. We need to pray for the "peace of God that passeth all understanding" (Phillipians 4:7) for her.
I know of that peace. Back in the summer, I had to finally make a decision about getting a hysterectomy due to physical problems. I have always wanted alot of children, and had fought the decision. But I finally came to a point where I knew it had to be done. I prayed very long and very hard and also had certain people praying along with me. It was so amazing! I can't really explain it, but when that peace came about the surgery, I knew it only came from the Lord. I now know what that peace of God that passeth all understanding is! This is what we need to pray for for my co-worker.
How about you? Do you need peace about something? Bring it to the Lord! If you do not know Jesus as your personal Saviour, you won't know that peace until you let Him into your life. Why don't you today? You can know peace.
Have a wonderful and blessed day!

TAKING THE TIME TO TALK

"So, anything interesting happen in school today?" "No." "Did you learn anything new?" "No." "Nothing at all, huh?" "Umm, no. When's supper?"
Does this sound like your conversations with your children? Well, this is kind of the way they go in my house when they come home from school. Of course, I will often get the "tattle list" of the kids who got their names on the board in my son's kindergarten class. :-?
Today, I just want to say don't close up those lines of communication with your children. Even though you're getting those kind of answers, you are showing your children that you are interested in them and what kind of day that they had. And don't forget to always try to find ways to talk to and teach them about the Lord. There are alot of "teachable" moments if we just keep looking.
The Bible says, "And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up." Deuteronomy 6:7. Wow! That is all of the time! No matter what we are doing. Wake them up with a verse. Play good, solid Christian music before you leave the house and in your vehicle. My boys love the old hymns. Really!
Bedtime to me is the best time to talk to my children. It seems to be the time when they open up the best. They are relaxed and starting to wind down.
I know, you are so very tired at the end of the day, you still have a hundred or so more things on your to-do list before you can even go to bed, but please don't rush that special time with your child. It is often hard for me to sit still in one place when I know how much more I have to do. But, even just five minutes sitting on the bed with him/her can make a difference. I know that's when I get some really deep Biblical questions, questions about life, talks about school life, etc from my oldest son, and some very silly stories, school happenings and yes, even Biblical questions, from my youngest.
Family devotional time is also an excellent time for communication. At first, you think that they aren't listening, but they really and truly are. Keep at it!
Take the time! Make the time!
Have a wonderful and blessed Wednesday. It's Prayer Meeting night!

WALKING STICKS

Hi! I hope that your Saturday was good. I think it's FINALLY starting to warm up outside, although the wind can be pretty rough at times.
We just got back from a walk in the woods and now my husband and boys went out for milkshakes, so I am going to grab some sewing time!
The woods are so beautiful and peaceful. When we walk, we look for wild life (didn't see any tonight). We did see animal tracks, though. My oldest is getting pretty good at reading them.
As soon as we get in the woods, my two have to make sure that all of us have walking sticks. These sticks actually make good tools for poking at hollow trees, digging for treasure, sword fights and all sorts of things!
My boys with their "walking" sticks
Well, I'm going to sign off for now and get to my sewing. Don't forget, tomorrow is the Lord's Day!
Have a blessed night!

Friday, April 1, 2011

Well, here it is! Friday! Yay! We've got a busy weekend ahead as Sunday is Pastor Appreciation Day. We have been so blessed with such a wonderful church family! Then next Sunday is Youth Sunday. Our Spring Revival comes along not too much farther in the last week of this month. Whew!
The boys are counting down the last weeks of school now. My youngest will be graduating from Kindergarten (sniff!). We have been practicing every day on his line that he has to say in their little play. I can't wait to see it!
Have a wonderful and blessed Friday!
